11.5hr shift, 6hr shift, 10hr shift. Exhausted, I like to vegetate at the bar. Having exactly one drink, and one smoke. A street-facing seat, glances at passerby, between empty gazes. A Croc clad child stops at the iron gate and eyes the cigarette hanging off my lip. Feeling guilt, like a bad influence. No time for reflection as a sweatpants clad young woman asked to join me, right as the thought of leaving entered my mind. She sipped foggy liquid from a shot glass. She asked me a few questions and I wanted to die. I didn't want to talk about myself, I wanted to leave, I didn't want to be hit on, I wanted to leave. I walked her inside and bought her a drink, a long island ice tea. I left on City Horse.
I've read 100 pages of Infinite Jest, so I may now determine whether or not I'd like to continue. It's about time I commit to something.
All of this to mention another commitment: logging and reviewing albums I listen to at work. Using RYM I'll log albums played on my shifts in the record store and cafe. This should keep me occupied during lulls.
